In a turbulent household shaped by the chaos of his mother's mental illness, a young boy finds solace in the company of his  pet parakeet, embarking on a quest for escape and understanding as he navigates the fine line between reality and imagination.


Based on a true story by Michael Fisher, Sam Foster discovers a toe tag in the dunes of Fire Island. While searching for its owner, he’s struck by memories of his lover who succumbed to AIDS. Sam brings the tag to the engraved address, a crematorium in New Jersey. As Sam connects with a stranger also in mourning, he learns his memories hold the true answer to understanding grief.


This documentary film by Michael Fisher recounts the unique character of Cherry Grove, a community on Fire Island, New York. Cherry Grove became a safe haven for gays during a time when two men holding hands in public was illegal. Fisher’s interviews with residents expose hidden stories and unknown facts that need to be told.
